                                                                                                    POWER OUTAGES IN GERING

GERING: City of Gering Officials would like to inform Gering residents that Electric Department personnel are aware of the current outages and blinks (brief momentary interruptions in power) and are working diligently to correct them.  The initial outage on March 14th was caused by debris blowing into the substation.  Since then, there have been multiple blinks.  Staff is working with electrical engineers to determine what can be done to stop these blinks and to contain them to smaller areas.

Domingo Palomo, City of Gering Electric Superintendent, states, “We understand that the power blinks are frustrating to our residents; staff is working diligently to identify the source of these blinks.  Please be patient with City personnel as they work through this.” He also stated that over the past six months, the Electric Department has been utilizing infrared cameras to determine potential fault locations to try to decrease the number of blinks and outages as much as possible.

The public can help with this process by letting the City know if they see anything unusual (flashes, etc.) happening on City powerlines.  Please report those to the City Utility office at (308) 436-6800.

Thank you.
